Springhill 2009

Postby Swifty on Tue Apr 28, 2009 2:12 am

A few pics from a WW2 show at Springhill in Moneymore, Co Tyrone last weekend. It was a fantastic show with top class special effects, entrenchments, well thought out choreography and a great venue. All in all, a great credit to Colm, Ray and the other organisers from Frontline/Die Gruppe.

Was great fun the MG 42 that I rented was mad!

I enjoyed shooting both of them on the Lorry! with the twn mount but pity the twin mount was Post war, we could have used it in Pics....

Unless you were a expert on the MG42 mounts you could not tell that it was post war , I also have one of these and they are perfect for reenacting , but of course you need a vehicle to mount them in .

I am no self aclaimed expert on MG42 mounts, but i would know the difference between a post war and wartime one.
If you have stated that the zwillingssockel was only used on Trucks etc, your very mistaken.

The Pictures Below are of the MG34 zwillingssockel 36 that was later adapted take the MG42.

I have added a site for you and a few Pictures for you Its worth a look and very informative.

Dear Sturrmann Baynard , if you read the excellent book on the MG 34/42 by Folke Myrvang you will see many zwillingssockel 's being used .I did not state that this mount was only used on vehicles , but mearly said that they look best in a vehicle as we have done with ours and the one you used in Springhill was also mounted in a truck .
The site you listed on the Zwillingssockel is run by Ryan Schnee who I know well as we had several dealings with in the past , he is a great bloke .
Note , also the Kreigsmarine used a MG42 mount similar to the post war one .
