OK, so when you say Norman what you mean is 11th Century Norman.

A few of us were over at Hastings 2006 - 150 or so Cavalry; the same in Archers; about 1900 heavy infantry between the two sides (I may be understating the numbers a bit here)

So, what I am getting at is: Yes, there are people here interested in that time period. Bunratty this year is set in the early 11th Century so popping along there for a chat might be an idea

Hi James

now Brendan don't be so pedantic, I'm sure James is interested in Anglo-Norman but we all think of the Bayeux Tapestry [sic] when we think Norman, so many pretty colours! Not to mention horsies, and armour and stuff....

James I'm afraid I don't know of any group specialising in Norman Ireland, indivduals are certainly kitted out for it and tend to go along to Generic Medieval shows in their Norman kit.

You'll meet lots of re-enactors who do several other time periods in the Medieval Era at Bunratty and certainly some who will be heading over to Hastings in October if you have an interest.

Perhaps someone can tell you about other shows happening in the West this year, I'm a bit out of the loop this year. [edit to add, I see now James has another thread where he is being directed to groups and shows]
I am off active duty for 2009 & 2010. I continue to research but will be attending few if any shows for these two years. I got some chickens and hope to bring them along with a more fully rounded household display in 2011.
