Thinking on Easter Rising reenacting

Postby Irish-American on Mon Feb 16, 2009 10:20 pm

Over the last few years I've gotten Very into Irish history and reenacting. I've been kind of dreaming at this stage (since I will be heading off to some university soon and will have no money) of making a sub group in my American Civil War that does the Easter Rising and early IRA stuff. But I've come up dry on finding uniforms and weaponry. I'm thinking maybe portraying IV or CA can anyone help?

Hello again Irish American,
Im going to start putting up kit lists and photographs here when i have the time but it will be a few weeks yet. In the meantime i suggest you contact Bob Mc Donough at fenian98@hotmail.com hes in a group based in New Jersey (I Think) that does the 1916-1921 period. They are realy enthousiastic about Irish history and their kit for the period looks realy accurate. Try searching the Irish Volunteer Historical Society or else Third West Cork Flying Column to find their webpage.

I recommend that you get Tim Pat Coogan and George Morrisons book " The Irish Civil War its packed with photos of the 1916 - 1921 period and is the re-enactors bible for the period
