Well done lads. A contentious event, but well worth remembering.

Incidentally, it's also the site of a much older, and equally important battle.

The battle of Sulchóid (Solohead) in 968, saw Brian Boru and his brother Mathgamhain defeat the Limerick Vikings under King Ivar. They burnt and looted the city after, and Mathgamhain was killed at a related peace accord meeting, allowing Brian to assume leadership. The rest, as they say, is history.

Significant place, old Soloheadbeg.
