Another Viking

Postby Guthrum on Fri Jan 16, 2009 10:29 am

Greetings one and all,

I'm an archaeologist based in SW Scotland, where I dug on the first Viking town ever excavated on mailand Scotland (lots of Hiberno-Norse pins and combs, and buildings which would have looked at home in Waterford, Wexford or Dublin!). Guthrum is a 10th century Hiberno-Norse warrior from the northern end of the Irish Sea Province.

I'm a member of Regia Anglorum, and have done a number of shows over in Ireland over the years, since I'm not that far from the ferry to Belfast.

Wot, No Gaels left in Scotland anymore? (That's a re-enactment jibe not a cultural-political-what football team you support one :P)

Welcome to the club mate!

Not in our neck of the woods. Don't seem to arrive until the late 12th century at the earliest - about the same time we were annexed by Scotland.

Thanks for the welcome.
