Duncannon 2009

Postby rommel on Wed Dec 10, 2008 3:00 pm

The Munster Military Vehicle and reenactment group are delighted to announce that Duncannon show 2009 will take place again this year on the June weekend , this is the 30th 31st May and 1st June , its a bank holiday weekeend in Ireland . The show this year will be a two day event on the Saturday and Sunday with any groups wishing to stay over til the Monday to pack up after the weekends socialising are very welcome . We will have a Bar b Q on The Sunday night for all involved after the show and a night to follow in the local pub , The Strand Bar where the party will continue long and hard as the event is renowned for .
The main WW2 battle will take place on Sunday for the public and we hope if possible to mount an even bigger one than last years success .
All groups from Uk and further afield are welcome to attend . Booking is through jjotoole@eircom.net ( Rommel) and only groups / individuals booked in will be eligable to attend . We expect an even bigger attendance this year from the interest we have had already . The big Northern Ireland groups like Die Gruppe , Schnell Gruppe Nord and members of the WHLA are attending and this should make a mighty axis show at the event , Likewise a marked increase of Allied groups and members from UK and Northern Ireland are attending and we look forward to seeing all our old friends there .
We will also retain the moat area for our Medieval village dispaly with medieval groups in full colour there , the Roman camp will be in situ also and many many more . All groups will get as much time as requested in the moat display area for public appearance slots , usually of 20 - 30 min duration . We will have a PA system for all groups to use . Archery and various battle groups will be able to give running commentary on thier displays from here
We are already negotiating Ferry deals with Stena line for special prices for those attending and i will post any information on this as soon as i have it .
We in the Munster Military Vehicle and reenactment group / Battlegroup south / Wargroup look forward to seeing old and new faces at the event this year and if we get the weather it will be a great weekend at Irelands premier military vehicle and reenactment show.
Please book early . Closing date will be 1st MAy 2009

update on even

in regards to duncannon show , we will be having the big Bar BQ on Saturday night but on Sunday night we have now organised a convoy of all vehicles attending to take all participants over to Wexford to the site of where saving Private Ryan was filmed and there will refreshments and food organised at a local pub there for all ,we did something like this in years past local areas , Germans , Vikings , Roamns , British , Medieval etc etc all poured out of triucks , Tanks , Armoured cars etc and converged on a local village for a small tour and it was just fantastic , so this year we have organised a little bit better and should be a great evening out for all
