Colouring Wood

Postby Aislinn on Wed Aug 06, 2008 11:46 am

I have a few identical wooden boxes (pine I think). I would like to paint/stain one to make it easily identifiable, preferably a green or a red colour. Can anyone tell me an authentic way to do this? I need it for Early Christian & later but would like the option to use it for earlier events if possible.

Check Here Does exactly what it says on the Tin.....

Sorry Aislinn ;) I just couldn't resist it. While not at all historically correct, I always use Danish Oil.

we had the wood painting theme once in the early medieval part of the forum: --->

Hope this helps!

There’s a copy of an article by Hazel Uzzell on appropriate period paints for shields webbed here .

Trust me, I'm female. ;-)
