Medieval Ireland The Barryscourt Lectures I-X

Postby finnobreanan on Wed Apr 23, 2008 3:07 pm

After visiting Barryscourt Castle last year, I became intrigued with it's history. I was pleased to find that they had published a combined volume of ten lectures presented there in 1996. I am about half way through this series and I can't put the book down. This is a "must read" for anyone interested in Tudor period Ireland. The book also covers the time period after the Norman Invasion. The book sells for about 42 Euro in Ireland. The lectures deal with aspects of medieval history, archaeology, art and architecture, and are presented by scholars specialising in the period. I highly recommend it.

Hi Finn,
Do you know the ISBN or the publisher of the lectures?
Thanks, Aislinn

Medieval Ireland The Barryscourt Lectures I-X
by Barryscourt Trust
ISBN-10: 0946846308
ISBN-13: 978-0946846306
Book, 2004

You can also purchase the individual lectures seperately. I was able to get the full series in hardback through "Read Ireland"
http://www.readireland.ie/browse.php3?i ... 2&sr=0&x=x

The second set of ten additional lectures is supposed to come out in the near future, but I haven't heard a date.

Thanks Finn/Scott. I'll see if the local libraries have them.
