Early medieval events 2011

Hello, does anybody has an idea of more events for early medieval re-enacters?
I'm just dying to have one,

on the moment this is the information I have:

http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/medieval/events/themidlandsvikingsymposium2011.aspx 30th of april Dublin (for Vikings)

http://www.carrigfest.com Barrycourt Co. Cork 9th and 10th of july

is duncannon military only?
is there an event in the irisch historical heritage park? http://www.inhp.com/
I heard about a viking festival on the 6th and 7th of august this year? but where?

If there is anybody with information for more medieval events this year in Ireland please post here!!! :)

many thanks and medieval greetings.

Hi Arjanne
are you a reenactor looking to get involved in events or are you a member of the public looking to go and see a reenactment.
Duncannon is not just military and is a great event to go to.
All the best.

Hi, Barry

I am a Dutch re-enactor who wants to get involved in events in Ireland for half a year (I'm here as a trainee in Gorey for my study till October)
I'm very interested in the history of Ireland and making new contacts. I want to look if people might be interested in an exchangingprogram with my re-enactment group. (www.celticbritain.net)
I have one connection already in re-enactment Ireland the group is named Tuatha de barra (http://tuathadebarra.com) and they invited me to go to duncannon with them, but I don't know were and when there are events, and if I can come often with them since we've never met before and they are a really small group.
I wanted to look for more options.

I'm a member(and leader) of the Dutch youth bound for experimental Archaeology (iron age and early medieval) (www.wea.njbg.nl) and Celtic Britain who re-enact the Gallowglass (Ireland an Scottish islands) around 1300 ad.

I hope you can help me!

kind regards,

Arjanne

Arjanne,
if you are based in Gorey in Co Wexford you should try and meet up with Jess De Burca from Montague heritage services - she is a neighbour!
You have already been in contact with people but I would also suggest contacting Mogh Roith (werb search will bring you to site) for Iron Age - I am involved in the group but out of country. The group is mid west based though.
For Gallowglass, I am not sure of any group explicitly covering that period for Gallowglass though there are a few individuals with high quality Gallowglass interpretations. If you start a separate thread on Gallowglass 1300s you might pick up more replies; likewise for the Iron Age stuff.
