So friggin true. I had an archaeology student essay the other day claim that Mesolithic people must have had long lifespans because they had no pesticides in their food. The modern idea of organic makes us fear the concept of 'toxins' like some kind of boogieman, but an hour beside a wood fire probably gives you more poisons like formaldehyde and dioxins than a lifetime of modern vegetables.

That being said, in the past I'm sure the average adult lived a good bit past thirty. The mean life expectancy gets terribly skewed by high infant mortality rates. If you make it past childhood, you probably lived to be old enough, seeing as though you were a hardy fecker.

Anyway, rant over. Good joke.
