The Knights of jerusalem

Postby Dennis on Fri Oct 23, 2009 11:49 am

Hi Guys.
We’ve just did the first living-history festival in Israel, “The Knights of Jerusalem”. We had not only our re-enactment groups but also visitors from abroad.
If you are interested in 12-13c. and want to visit Holy Land, I invite you to our next festival. The event will take place on October 2010.
For more information, please email me.

Salve Dennis,

Sounds like great fun. Our group, Legion Ireland, re-enact the Roman army from Vespasian to Hadrian, but somehow I doubt we'd be welcome in Jerusalem, especiallay around Easter

Seriously though, if you ever need a few Romans then let us know ;)

Hi Nerva
First, look here: http://www.reshet.tv/video.aspx?video_id=42348 it’s in Hebrew, but images talk, we are the group that re-enact 10th legion there; our friends from “Jewish Tradition” re-enact the Jewish rebels. The reportage was made for the Independence day, so we were asked to play an escape
One of the periods that we are interested is 132-135 a.d. Bar Khohba revolt, the struggle against 10th legion.

Other images are there: http://www.livinghistory.co.il/index.ph ... ges&pid=13
I saw your site, great work guys. You are welcome to visit our country as friends :D
We thought about a festival in Massada, Cesaria or Be’it Shan, but Crusaders is our major occupation that why we did the first festival of 12-13c. Next year, we hope to gather more groups throughout the world who are interested in history of Jerusalem Kingdom and Templar Order.

Looks like the Romans have found another foreign trip!

Are you only interested in Templar? Are you interested in Hospitallers?

We are interested in the history of Holy Land. One of the periods is 12-13c. Jerusalem Kingdom. We re-enact Templar Order, but the festival has to join people who are interested in Latin Jerusalem KIngdom of 12-13c. No matter, if they re-enact Hospitalers or Order of St. Lazarus, even Mamluks, I repeat the period is important - 12-13 century.

Dude i am not driving all the way to jerusalme (but i will fly)
"The Kaiser knows the Munsters,
by the Shamrock on their caps,
And the famous Bengal Tiger, ever ready for a scrap,
And all his big battalions, Prussian Guards and grenadiers,
Fear to face the flashing bayonets of the Munster Fusiliers."

Ok, that is a time period that interests me, and me kit is nearly there (though disturbingly early Hospitallers wore black wool in the sun)

Salve Dennis!

Masada! Now a re-enactment of that siege would be spectacular’s We have a Manuballista or Cheiroballistra and have just taken delivery of our Scopiones Major only last week-end (Still trying to reassemble it for a photo shoot but boy does she look fantastic :!: ). And now I can officially announce the purchase of our third machine, a 2 mina stone thrower, see here:

http://www.historicaltimes.net/1_1_Page8.htm

This machine was built by Len Morgan in 2008. We were in negotiations to purchase it from Len up to quite recently and after collecting our Scorpiones Major from him last week end, Len has finally agreed to sell it to us. This is the actual machine we will be receiving in summer 2010 as Len is starting construction of a new similar machine for himself.

So how about that Dennis, we'll bring the siege machines if you provide the beer

brendan, this year, the festival was in October, the weather was great. Next year we are plannig to do it at the same time.
As far as I know you don't fight in full contact in Ireland, do you?
