Guys and Gals,

We in the Munster Military Vehicle and Reenactment Group and friends have created a new web site which represents both sides of the conflict in World War One and is designed to promote First World War Living History.

The pics look good lads.

However just one small criticisim on the title - would it not be better to have called the web page / project "King And Kaiser" instead of "King Nor Kaiser" since ye are infact portraying the soldiers who served in the armed forces of the British King AND the German Kaiser?

King nor Kaiser I presume comes from the famous banner flown across the front of Liberty Hall by the Irish Citizens Army which declared "We serve neither King nor Kaiser but Ireland." King NOR Kaiser suggests that the men ye portray werent in the service of either monarch and would be more suitable if ye were portraying Irish Republican forces specifically or concentrating on portraying the Irish Citizens Army.

Just a suggestion. Thats my two cents.

Thanks for the compliment Swifty!!

And thanks for the suggestion Padraig ..... you're quite right in your assertion.

The idea behind the title was to point out that the guys fighting in the conflict were ultimately fighting for each other and not for some lofty cause, as so often is the case in war. The Christmas Truce of 1914 being a perfect example.

So that famous Irish phrase fits the bill quite nicely and is eminently suitable...as well as highlighting the contribution of the Irish Regiments on the Allied side, of course. :D
