WANTED: re-enactors for programme on Stonehenge for Nat Geo

Postby 360production on Tue Sep 01, 2009 3:06 pm

Hi,

My name is Marie Duffy and I am a researcher for 360Production who are based in Derry. We are currently making a programme on Stonehenge for the National Geographic channel.

The series we're making will be shown on National Geographic in the United States, and will also be distributed in Eire, the UK and worldwide.

We are looking for some people to recreate scenes to dramatise the building of Stonehenge, the journey of the blue stones, and life around that time.

We are looking for people who can portray daily life around that time, and people who have archery skills.

Just to give you a bit of background on us: 360Production was set up John Farren, previously Editor of Timewatch, the BBC’s long running high-profile history and archaeology strand. John's work is known internationally for its creativity, quality and integrity.

Both John and Emma Parkins, the producer of the programme, are passionate about archaeology. Emma previously produced Timewatch - Stonehenge Online - an 'as live' website featuring last year’s excavation within Stonehenge, which received more than 10 million hits worldwide.

You can check out one of our Youtube clips which has received almost 3 million hits- it's pretty cool and gives you an idea of the way we work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRS9cpOMYv0

We hope to film in early October, and the re-enactment scenes will be filmed in Derry.

If you are interested we would love to speak to you.

We are working on a tiny budget so will be unable to pay a huge fee- but can pay all expenses and a small fee. We would love to hear from anyone who would be interested in being involved in a top-quality production which will be shown all over the world.

Oh how many times have we heard this before? We bring all our gear, all our expertise, work all day long, get feck all and we're supposed to be grateful when it's shown all over the world, like we should be satisfied just because we get our faces on TV for 10 minutes......

How is it going to be "top-quality" when you won't pay your professionals a proper rate?

I DON'T THINK SO!
Jerusalem has fallen.....we leave at dawn..

So that is a no from Ronan...

Anyone else who is interested could and should contact 360production directly and determine whether they are OK with what is on offer. IF you want a more general discussion on this sort of thing, then please start a new thread.

Thanks Guys,

Obviously we aren't out to take advantage of anyone- and would love it if we had a huge Hollywood budget to spend- but unfortunately that's not the case for small production companies.

If you are interested then please get in touch

Thanks
Marie
