Hanging up my sword

Postby ciaranc on Thu Aug 13, 2009 4:49 pm

Well folks that time has come for me too, it’s been fun but my days in Re-enactment have come to an end. I would just like to extend a fond farewell to all the friends I have made on and off the field in the past 11 years. Unfortunately over the past year the scene has become more of a chore than enjoyment so I would rather keep the good memories intact and with that in mind I have decided to hang up my sword and leave the field. who knows I may be a face in the crowd cheering you on till then slán and play nice on and off the field.

Don't recall ever meeting with you, but hope your retirement goes well.
It's always sad to read/hear of another being lost to reenacting because of the drudgery that has become all too frequent within the last couple of years.

Don't be a stranger.

Slán a Chiaráin,

and don't be a stranger. Remember, retirement is not permanent.
You can always dip in for the odd gig, and we won't think any less of you!

Its a consuming hobby and I guess I have had a few times wondering why I do it - none recently, but I expect it to hit again.

There is still the social aspect of it and I hope to see you at the occasional Apres - Reenactment.

I hope this doesn't affect what we were talking about the other week mate, aside from that I'm sorry to hear that you are giving it in. I know you talked about it before, but we are starting down a grim road here. Too many experienced and sensible heads talking this way, its not good...sigh. Those that are to come need people like you to help train and guide them.
