Any medieval reenactment events on this year?

Hey guys,

I was asking myself if there are any medieval events on this year. I not talking about stuff like country fairs, bouncing castles ( ) and other tourist attraction stuff. I am talking about a decent event mainly for us, the re-enactors, where you just meat a of people and can share knowledge, techniques and drinks! I really miss that so far.

Don't get me wrong, I love speaking with the public, killing myths and cliches or just teaching history, but I miss an event where we (all?) just have fun together and probably a stronger community could grow out of this. But let's please don't discuss this here, just want to clarify why I am eager to do something like that again.
If u you are doing someting with your group or friend, but don't want to make it public, I would highly appreciate a PM!

I thought Iver was talking more about non-public events focused on crafts etc
I know that there were some workshops scheduled by comsmiles http://livinghistory.ie/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=1060&p=8978#p8978 is this what you are thinking of or is it more the idea of an encampment but without the public.

Up with the idea of more NON public events! SO, fed up of the public conveyor belt weekend it's unreal! (Post Crag burn out!)

Still contend we need 2-4 LH camps and 2-4 Combat camps (IA to 17th Cen for field combat, archery and drill) per year.
And not stuff you have to pay into either.

there is always a cost associated with being at a gig - public or otherwise
I agree re: the need for multiple non-public shows in the year. Even if they are relatively close together in timing or clashing there should be no reason not to have plenty of them. Geography, interest in the planned activities and who else will be there generally determine where whether people go

Hello - Am not trying to recruit iver as he says he wants non public stuff. But just to point Dungarvan is the 23rd not the 22nd and that its not one of those gigs that as dave put it "stuff you have to pay into either" Free admission for the public.

Please note im not accusing Dave of saying that there was a charge for Dungarvin which he wasnt I just wanted to point out that its a free public gig

That's al right Padraig. I wasn't talking about public access events. I was talking about 'in house' events that are more workshop and communal based than set-up as 'pay in like it's a service'. You know, organising group/body plan and set it up (cause they want to) but it's the people that come to it make it happen as they have to bring their thing to the table (for show & tell etc.).

Granted everyone would be paying for their own food or communal food one way or the other or accommodation if not camping or shared accommodation if a location is rented.

Variables are broad...as usual.

Thanks a lot for you effort and the pm's. Sorry for not getting back, have had guest last whole week at my place.

Hmmm...looks like after all we will organize a small event ourselves , as we have around 300m² of loan to place some tents there and do for example some dying, wood work and stuff for sure
