I would disagree as the literal meaning of the Old Norse höggs-spjiot is 'hewing-spear' and the Dacian falx has no spear function as such. 'Halberd', the usual translation for these weapons, is a convenience used by modern translators to differentiate these weapons from 'ordinary spears'.
