PBS had in interesting program on last night here in America, "Headless Romans" on "Secrets of the Dead". I had to tape it (past my bedtime!), but it concerns a recent discovery in York and the skeletal remains of a group of Romans who were decapitated.

A friend of mine has a museum in Germany, and showed me a recent acquisition of his, a celtic trophy head with a big iron hail through it. It was clearly hung up for display by some proud Suessionian.

Could be a Roman from the Roman attack on Noviodunum in 57bc, or at least from around that time.

Well, I watched the taped show last night.
Spoiler Allert!
It appears to be "Rome on Rome" executions, with Emperor Lucius Septimius Severus, consolidating power and executing possible non-supporters. Interesting stuff.
