Camden Fort Meagher

[Fort Camden]

Hi All


That time of year again, Camden Fort Meagher Crosshaven Co.Cork has asked me to sent out and email inviting all groups all periods to visit the fort this year to set up a living history or re-enactment display from any time period.


The aim of the fort is to have groups displaying in the Fort to teach the public about various parts of history.


The fort will be able to pay reasonable expenses to groups travelling so please get in touch with me and give me a quote for expenses and i can see what the Fort can match.


The Fort plans to open from July to September, short season as there is large works underway for utilities and wont be finished till July.


You can book into any weekend as your own group or with other groups long as it has been pre-arranged before so the Fort can make arrangements for your visit.

All Groups indending to go please submit reasonable expenses before hand so it can be agreed upon, once done we would need a copy of your current insurance cert before we could book you in.


Here is a list of dates The Irish Military Re-enactment Group will be on site, feel free to join us or book any weekend between July And September.

Hi all

Time i pushing on, Camden Fort Meagher is gearing p for the season, we are starting to look at advertiseing the season and would like to inc groups who are doing shows this year. if you plan to come down for an event or do your own weekend I nee to know to book ye in.

I received an e mail from the organisers on Friday and they have now decided to go down the road of one sided historical representation , in the sense that they have now decided on the advice of their stakeholders to not allow any German WW2 groups in the show as they may be viewed as possibly offensive to the public and therefor we are not able to attend the show .
This is the first and only show / event that has ever gone down this road , despite having been the in Duncannon , The Curragh and Naas for many years now . I think this is a silly road for the organisers to go down and is an oppertunity missed to see and display to the public such a vast array of historical vehicles and weapons and equipment .
Will this mean so that Black and Tans will not be allowed in the show , or British Paras , Britsh auxillaries ?????? are these not odffencive to the Irish "public".
I would urge other german groups to check with the organisers before ye move vehicles and equipment to Cork in the advent of the show , we did and are now out of pocket from it having moved 3 trucks from Wexford to Cork last week .
