The historical festival “Battle of the Nations” (www.battleofthenations.com.ua) conceptually absolutely differs from everything which was earlier. The national teams of four countries will challenge each other in real full-contact medieval battles in order to define the best of the best in a new sport which is being born about your ears. While the atmosphere, the way of life and the living conditions will be in the best traditions of European medieval living history festivals.
The venue of the festival is one of the favorite tourists’ places, as long as Khotyn fortress is situated in the very heart of Europe, close to nature, not far from the picturesque Carpathian Mountains and surrounded by lots of sightseeing places, historical and cultural monuments. During May games it usually gathers up to 10 000 visitors daily, and during films shooting about 50 000 people came there.
On the days of the festival Khotyn fortress will give a hearty welcome to Ukrainian, Russian, Byelorussian and Polish national teams composed of the best world fighters, more than 50 medieval historical reenactment clubs, about 50 000 tourists and, of course, craftsmen, merchants and traders among which we will be happy to see you! You will become the participant of the great fair where you can sell your production to the professional reenactors and numerous tourists with profit and pleasure. Besides the fair, various cultural-sport activities, original master classes in medieval arms and armor manufacturing, medieval soldiership training, courses in medieval dancing, archery, competitions and concerts, fire-show and theatre performances are planned in the program of “Battle of the nations”. All the activities are called to arouse and to keep guests’ and participants’ lively interest.
You as the direct festival participants will be provided with the site for your tent, water and firewood in the amount needed. For festival participants’ comfort residence composting toilets and showers etc. will be installed near the campsite.
The festival “Battle of the nations” offers you a great opportunity to establish beneficial trade and economic relationships with the managers and trade representatives of European medieval stores, to set dealer network and distribution of your goods to the regions which are beneficial for you and just to sell your goods with pleasure. Having visited the festival you will see how the new world sport is being born about your ears and just get the pleasure from the spectacular battles, communication with the like-minded people, the atmosphere of the Middle Ages and beautiful nature. I know 5 crazy French guys that came to Ukraine by car to attend a couple of events last year.
However craftspeople from Ireland coming to Ukraine with goods for the fair... impossible
Besides this, "the great medieval fair" is pompous, isn't it?

For the curious, to get there, you fly to Krakow (€25 one way, direct from Dublin), in Poland and it's a nine hour drive to Khotyn.

And Krakow is an amazing medieval city, so it'd make an excellent holiday.

No visa is required for EU citizens. Just a valid passport. It's always a source for confusions, when people try to get here with plastic IDs, driving licenses etc. You need a valid passport, paper one if you have both: paper and plastic.

As for WizzAir, suggested by John, from my experiesnce it's good as for low-cost.

"the great medieval fair" is pompous

If this sounds pompous for you...well, I keep from comments ;)
But the festival IS GOING to be interesting, there is nothing remotely like it, anywhere else in the world.
And the festival is coming very soon! The captivating rich(more than 12-hours daily) festival program has been already published at www.battleofthenations.com.ua
