Hi from Clare

Hi All,
my name is Davide, and I'm an Italian living in Ireland (by two years now) - and looking forward continuing to live here for a long while.
Back in Italy I've been a member of different groups of Medieval Fencing (what we call 'Scrima') for some years, and learned to fight with quarterstaff, single-hand sword and one-and-a-half-hand sword (I've translated word-by-word - don't know if you use a different term in english).
I've not had any training in the past few years - no physical activity at all to be honest - so I'm surely quite out of practice. Still, I would like to get once more close to the world of historic reenactment, particularly swordfighting.
I'm living in Ennis, Co. Clare - is there any group in this area - or generically people with my same interest?

Hi Davide,
Welcome to the boards. We would be closest to you as far a being a group in your area and doing Pre-historic to late Medieval, mostly. You can check us at

We are also well out of practice and unfit :( but would be willing to hook up with you some day in Ennis for a coffee and a chat. Who knows it might inspire some training to happen.

We would just say "Hand and a half sword'" btw. :)
