Hi Billy.
Here is that pic on the ammended iron age blade. As you can see I extended the width of the pommel and reduced the length of the hilt. The over all length of the sword will be 20 inches, about one inch longer then the longest blade found in Ireland. I think I can get away with that . I see what you were saying about the blade being steady in the hand. With the combination of crossguard, hilt(3 and a half inches) and pommel the blade should be very snug in the hand. With the roundness of the crossguard and pommel it would be very comfortable also.
Fighting with a blade like this will require some investigation into its proper use. Its very much an 'up close' weapon which would also require the use of a much smaller shield. The combination of both would be deadly as I am sure pure speed would be needed with such weapons. Anyway Billy let me know what you think about the ammendments.
