Blood of the Irish, the Crossing the Line - RTÉ doc, just won the IFTA for Best Documentary. I'm delighted that a body of work of such calibre won such a prestigious Irish industry award. Myself and Alan made the costumes for the core family unit in this production and Billy & Dave did a huge amount of work on the production in every fashion possible, I am in no doubt that this contributed grately to the recognition this doc has received to date.
Claps on the back all round guys, personally I think it's well deserved.

Thanks guys, kudos to Mogh Roith, (Dave & Billy's re-enactment group) as they pulled some show stopping stuff out of the bag. Set design, acting and consultation. In terms of what we (MHS) did, well I can never look at deer skin the same again! The 3 main costumes were handstitched and made piece meal as in, lots of scrappy bits put together incorporating the worn and naturally frayed parts. The problem with the skins, was aging them and also removing all the modern shiny polish from them before making the clothes. We managed to procure some synthetic sinew to complete the look and that coupled with some lovely finger painted design and some bone toggle decorations we completed what can only be described as a labour of love.

Thanks all. It's nice to see some recognition for a fair amount of hard work. Very enjoyable though.

It was a most excellent adventure!

As much as I have misgivings about the end product the preproduction, production value and subject matter was brilliant!

It was great to be involved in the set construction and providing costume, costumed personnel and coracle river action. :D

Dave.
