Thats very noble gesture and I was in favour of doing that myself but the thing here seems to be that people have a tendency to equate cost with value. If it cost them nothing then it's worth nothing and they treat it accordingly. It's happened to me time and time again when people at gigs ask me for a loan of something and then give it back to me in bits or don't give it back at all, they just come along and tell me "I left your thingamajig over there for you"
