For re enactment:
Does anybody focus on this period in Ireland - any group or event that is specific to this...

For research:
I'm primarily interested in the whole 'Republic of Connacht' thing with General Humbert, and any battles that may have taken place within Roscommon county.

Also the fighting women, I've read about the main ones, but any that were from Roscommon, does anybody know?

Information, opinion, references, source material etc, much appreciated.

i would suggest ray murphy could help you out here as he does the pike men and david owens a total gentle man and one of our club members in kgk does the french ill post a photo up off him later if i can in full french uniform of the time . the enniscorthy pike men have been going a number of years now and are quite a successful club in their own right .

You can get on to the Monasterevin lads, they do mostly redcoats from that period, but have a good general knowledge.

The Monasterevin lads and the 9eme will be doing 1798 almost everywhere we are heading. You could come to Thurles tomorrow. We will be there with two 1798 Chasseurs. the Monasterevin lads will be there in World War 1 uniform (another one of their Projects).

I do the Connaught Rangers from that period.
Their HQ was in Boyle House in Roscommon, as you might know.

We do a lot of Napoleonic events over the Summer months here in Ireland & abroad.
For instance, Duncannon is a big event for us as well as Waterloo.
A lot of the guys who do the Connaughts are based up in Sligo/Leitrim anyway,
which might be convenient for you.

As has been stated multiple times above we Lord Edward's Own (aka the Monasterevin lads) do 1798 and 1803. We started about 5 years ago doing Pikemen and got distracted by Napoleonics but we usually field both at any event we attend since its part of the overall story of Europe 1789 to 1815. Next year we'll hopefully have a 70e Demi-brigade impression as well.
