Public event, restricted participant list: Train Through Time

From: Fri May 29, 2009 11:00 pm
To: Sat May 30, 2009 11:00 pm
Odin's Einherjare in conjunction with Downpatrick & County Down Railway Museum will be hosting 'Train Through Time' on the weekend of the 30th and 31st of May 2009.

This event will see visitors transported through time on a 1935 Steam Train, back to the 10th Century, in the year 976. The Destination of the passengers on the train will be the traditionally acknowledged grave site of Magnus Barfot, although the encampment there will be over 1.5 centuries before his death and interment.

As stated the period for this event is 976, prior to the raid on Nendrum Monastry (located 37.5km from the site), the ethnicity of the camp will be primarily of Norse origin with some indication of influence from other viking territories. A kit guideline will mailed to those invited, with authenticity checks being conducted on both days prior to the Living History Camp being opened to any MOPs.

There is camping available on the site from Friday the 29th of May until Monday the 1st of June, with toilet facilities being provided on site. On the Saturday there will be a hot, period meal provided free for all participants.

Transportation of Kit is available for those who have difficulty with transport, as is secure storage and parking for vehicles.

Please note, this event is by invite only.
